Zakho Center for Kurdish Studies Is Opened at the University of Zakho

On Tuesday, December 18, 2018, at 10:00 am, in the presence of Assistant Professor Dr. Lazgin A. Jameel-President of the University of Zakho, vice presidents, deans of colleges and faculties, directors of governmental institutions, press institutions, lecturers and students of the university, Zakho Center for Kurdish Studies was opened at the Hall of Khalil Khayali-Faculty of Humanities.
In the beginning, the attendee stood a minute of silence in honor of the martyrs of Kurdistan with the anthem (Ay Raqib) being played. Then the panels of the ceremony started by a speech delivered by Assistant Professor Dr. Diyar A. Saed Halo-Dean of the Faculty of Humanities. In his speech, he showed his support for the activity of the center and hoped that the center work academically on important topics.
After that, a speech was delivered by Assistant Professor Dr. Lazgin A. Jameel. In his speech, he warmly welcomed the guests and talked about the role of the university and the center. He emphasized the importance of this kind of centers then focused on the mission and objective of the center.
Then a speech was delivered by Professor Dr. Hogir T. Tawfiq-Director of Zakho Center for Kurdish Studies. He talked about the work and activities of the center, conducting and publishing studies. Likewise, he asked the guests to support the center morally and financially.
In the end, a panel was devoted to the exhibition of books signed scholars.
